The short story
Some songs are built for motion. Some are built for dusk.
The Scrips are a four-piece East Texas string band with an indie-rock heart. Since 2011, they have carried original songs, old-time fiddle tunes, hymns, and public-domain fragments through listening rooms, art festivals, farmers markets, wineries, breweries, radio rooms, and a small chapel in the woods near Flint.
Clawhammer banjo, guitar, upright bass, fiddle, concertina, musical saw, and close harmony make a sound that can move from lively and danceable to sparse, modal, and nearly trance-like. The current set is proudly original-forward: new songs shaped by older American forms without treating those forms like museum pieces.

Live production
Simple by design.
When the room allows, the band can gather around its Ear Trumpet Labs microphone for voices and acoustic instruments, with upright bass sent direct.
A conventional setup is also welcome: individual vocal and instrument microphones, appropriate direct inputs, and upright bass DI. Final details are confirmed directly with the venue during advance.
